If you are Indian or just someone that loves delicious Indian cuisine, then this post will be useful for you. In this post you will find a list of all Indian restaurants that are currently open in Iceland.
To have more options to choose from, we also added several restaurants that serves Nepalese and Pakistani cuisine. All restaurants listed allow walk ins, but reserving a table for dinner dining is highly recommended, especially during the holiday time such us Christmas time.

Gandhi
Located just few meters from the parliament building. It specializes in South Indian cuisine. Has a good selection of vegetarian options. Chefs that works at this restaurant are originally from Kerala.

Austur Indiafélagið
Fine dining Indian cuisine restaurant located on Hverfisgata street, parallel street of main shopping area Laugavegur. They serve mix of traditional and innovative dishes with many different culinary styles of India. It’s been open since 1994, which makes it the oldest Indian restaurant in Iceland.
Opening hours: Sun. to Thu. 18:00 – 22:00, Fri. & Sat. 18:00 – 23:00

Hraðlestin
Indian street food franchise established in 2004. Serves delicious thali and other meat based meals. They have vegetarian and vegan options.
It is located in four different locations, two of them in downtown area. The one at Lækjargata street is open for lunch and dinner, while the second one only serves take away meals.
Opening hours: Restaurant – Mon. – Fri. 11:00 – 22:00, Fri. 11:00 – 23:00, Sat. 12:00 – 23:00, Sun. 12:00 – 23:00. Take-away place is open everyday from 17:00 – 22:00

Shalimar
It is a tiny, two level Pakistani restaurant located near Ingólfstræti square. Serves Pakistanian and North Indian dishes. Their menu includes almost 50 main dishes, some of them are vegetarian and vegan. Also good selection of tandoori nan, roti and paratha.

Himalayan Spice Iceland
Located on the main shopping street Laugavegur. Offers a delicately spiced Nepalese and curry dishes. Their Nepalese dishes originate predominantly in the Newari cuisine. Wide selection of vegetarian options, sea food and meat dishes.

Bombay Bazaar
This one is a bit farther away from the city center, which is a good option for those who wants to escape crowded places. They serve Mumbai style dishes. Several take-away menus for families are available and are deliverable to hotels.

Indian Curry House
The only Indian restaurant outside the Great Reykjavik Area is located far north, in the city called Akureyri, which is also known as the capital of the North. On week days special lunch offer available from 11:30 – 13:30.
Opening hours: Tue. – Fri. 11:30 – 13:30 and 17:30 – 21:00, Sat. & Sun. 17:30 – 21:00.
