Your adventure begins with a convenient pickup from downtown Reykjavík. We offer flexible departures in the afternoon and evening, ensuring you have enough time to explore the eruption site without feeling rushed.

Upon arrival, embark on a challenging but rewarding hike to the eruption site. The estimated duration of the hike is 2-3 hours each way, covering approximately 17-20 kilometers round trip. The volcanic landscape is constantly evolving, which may affect the hike’s duration.
The eruption near Mt. Hagafell, which began on May 29, 2024, is the eighth eruption in the Reykjanes Peninsula in the last three years. The eruption site is situated between the Fagradalsfjall and Keilir mountains, capturing the attention of nature enthusiasts and scientists alike. The volcanic activity has formed a 200-meter-long fissure with spectacular lava fountains. The lava flow has created new landscapes, providing a unique opportunity for exploration.

We will charge a cancellation fee of 100% if the booking is canceled 24 hours or less before the event. We reimburse you 96.5% if the booking is canceled with more than 24 hours notice. 3.5% is a non-refundable Merchant fee.
Pickup time in Reykjavik is set for 11:00 am. If you do not select a pickup location from our specified list during booking, you will automatically be picked up at bus stop number 12 – Höfðatorg. If you need a pickup from a location not listed by us and wish to request a different spot, be aware that this may incur extra charges. Note, this tour does not allow for direct meeting at the tour location. The nearest available pickup point to the volcano is Hotel Vellir in Hafnarfjordur, located about 20 minutes from Keflavik airport towards Reykjavik, and it has parking available. If you prefer pickup from Hotel Vellir or another specific location, please select the option “Not sure yet, I will contact you later” when booking and inform us of your chosen pickup location afterwards. The pickup time for these alternative locations is 11:30 am.
