Calling all active travelers, this is your ideal adventure! Get ready for a day packed with excitement as we combine two of our classic trips: Calm Water Kayaking and Around the Walls.
The tranquil fjordsides are a treasure trove of wildlife waiting to be discovered. Keep your eyes peeled for Arctic Terns, Eider Ducks, Cormorants, Black Guillemots, and the enchanting seal colony that calls the fjord’s end home. Wildlife sightings are not just possible; they’re expected!
Hop into your kayak and paddle along the serene waters under the watchful gaze of the towering mountains that embrace the fjord. It’s a unique perspective on our charming town that you won’t soon forget.
Before we embark on our mountain biking adventure, we’ll pause for a well-deserved lunch. As we traverse the Icelandic “forest,” we’ll cruise along easy mountain trails, all the while taking in breathtaking views of the snow-capped mountains along the Snaefjallaströnd coastline, visible across the ocean.
This tour is perfect for families and beginners. Our guides will be by your side every step of the way. The mountain bike trail is adaptable, so we can include or exclude specific sections based on your skill level.
We’ll start our adventure by meeting up at our base at Mávagardur C (the grey building). Here, we’ll get you equipped and provide a brief safety orientation and kayaking lesson along the historic Nestikaupstaur homes’ shoreline.
Once prepared, we’ll hit the water, keeping a keen eye out for seals and a variety of bird species as we paddle across the fjord. After approximately two hours of kayaking, we’ll return to our base at Mávagardur C.
Post-lunch, we’ll set off on our mountain bikes along Aalstraeti, the town’s main street. Our route takes us up the initial hill leading to the Rockies’ avalanche barrier. Here, we’ll navigate behind towering walls, continuing along the mountain’s base. Our journey leads us to the forest near Tungudalur, where the magnificent Buná River and waterfall await. We’ll then cycle to the last avalanche barrier, rewarding us with a breathtaking fjord view. From here, it’s a smooth ride back to town.
Get ready for a day filled with adventure, nature, and unforgettable memories!
