Don’t you want to sample the truly authentic Icelandic cuisine while on a Reykjavik food tour?
You will not be let down by the quality of the restaurants we have carefully chosen to be our partners, and you can cross off a lot of items on your Icelandic culinary bucket list with our assortment of regional delicacies.
Discovering the nation’s past while indulging in a delicious and interesting meal is one of the nicest aspects of going on a food tour. More importantly, our guides are all professionals who have graduated from Iceland’s Tour Guide School and are skilled at both entertaining and instructing.
Our delectable culinary adventure comes to an end at Reykjavik Harbour, which also serves as the exact location where the Northern Light Hunt by Sea begins.
You will have time to relax after your fantastic Icelandic food tour from around 8–9 PM before heading out to board a boat and embark on the next adventure. Hunting for the Northern Lights from the ocean is an amazing experience! You won’t soon forget sailing away from Reykjavik’s coastline and witnessing the Northern Lights over the North Atlantic, framed by stunning mountains and the city.
You’ll set sail from Reykjavik’s Old Harbour at 9 PM (October 1st to March 15th), and in just 15 to 20 minutes, you’ll be in a prime spot, away from the city lights—ideal for seeing the auroras! In addition to sharing the legends and traditions from cultures around the world, your guide will explain the science behind the magical phenomenon known as the Northern Lights. The length of the journey varies from two to three hours, depending on when the lights appear. The Northern Lights hunt departs at 10 PM in September and from March 15th to May 1st.
Wearing our complimentary overalls—including kid-sized options—will keep you cosy as you enjoy the deck and listen to the guide’s commentary about the beautiful hues dancing in the sky.
During the tour, you’ll also watch an original Northern Lights video, packed with fascinating information and legends. If you’re feeling chilly, you can grab a drink at the bar, stay warm while watching the video, or simply sit back with your loved ones and take in the distant view of the city lights.
Since the Northern Lights hunt lasts two to three hours, you’ll return to Reykjavik Harbour between 11 PM and 12 AM. The entire experience lasts from 5 PM to 12 AM (with a one-hour break).
The tour lasts 7 hours in total.
The meeting location is at the Ingólfur Square, by the 2 pillars.
Yes, we do offer pick up from the Reykjavik area only.
If the tour gets canceled due to bad weather conditions, you will be eligible to reschedule your tour for another day. If rescheduling does not work, you will be refunded 95%.
If you do not see the lights and you want to go on another tour, please send us an email at info@iceland-highlights.com and we’d be happy to reschedule you for another trial free of charge!
