Our delectable culinary adventure ends at Reykjavik Harbour—the exact location where the Northern Lights Hunt by Sea begins.

You will have time to relax after your food tour from around 8–9 PM before heading out to board a boat and embark on the next adventure. Hunting for the Northern Lights from the ocean is unforgettable: sail away from Reykjavik’s coastline and witness the auroras over the North Atlantic, framed by mountains and city lights.

Evening plan & timing

• Food Tour: 5:00 PM – ~8:00 PM
• Break: ~8:00–9:00 PM near Reykjavik Harbour
• Northern Lights by Sea:
  • 9:00 PM departures: October 1 – March 15
  • 10:00 PM departures: September and March 15 – May 1
• Return: ~11:00 PM – 12:00 AM (boat duration 2–3 hours, depending on aurora)

You’ll reach a prime viewing area in just 15–20 minutes—away from city lights and ideal for seeing the auroras. Your guide will explain both the science and legends behind the Northern Lights.

What happens if the Northern Lights Tour gets canceled due to bad weather?

If the boat tour is canceled due to weather, you can reschedule for another day. If rescheduling doesn’t work, we will refund 95%.

What happens if I don’t see the Northern Lights?

If you don’t see the lights and would like to try again, email info@iceland-highlights.com and we’ll rebook you for another attempt free of charge.

What’s your cancellation policy?

• 100% fee if canceled 24 hours or less before the event.
• 95% fee if canceled more than 24 hours before the event.
• If we cancel due to weather, you’ll receive a rescheduling offer. If rescheduling doesn’t work, we refund 95%.
• 5% is a non-refundable merchant fee.
