A quick trip to the Forest Lagoon geothermal spas, where you can unwind in the warm water, kicks off the evening. The spa’s distinctive setting amidst birch and pine trees, with views of Eyjafjörður, one of Iceland’s longest fjords, really makes it stand out. Visitors to the woodland Lagoon will be able to take in the vista, the peace, and the vitality of Vaðlaskógur, the woodland that encircles the baths.

Our knowledgeable tour guides will drive you outside of Akureyri for the second half of the journey to witness the Aurora Borealis, often known as the Northern Lights, one of nature’s most amazing artistic manifestations. This winter’s Northern Lights viewing is expected to be extremely busy, and the northern region near Akureyri is one of the best sites to watch them.

Important Note: The Northern Lights are an occurrence of nature. Even if the tour is conducted, sightings cannot be certain. Each day, we determine between 17:30 and 18:00 (5:30  and 6:00 PM) whether the weather is suitable for conducting the excursion.

How long is the tour?

The stop at the Forest Lagoon is 2 hours and the Northern Lights part of the tour is approx. 2,5 hours so the total duration of the tour is 4,5 hours. 

Do you offer pick up?

We can pick you up in Akureyri. You can choose your pickup location during checkout.

What happens if the Northern Lights forecast is not favorable?

Northern Lights tours depend on weather and sky conditions, so we may cancel if needed. If weather prevents the tour, we’ll contact you promptly to reschedule. We evaluate viewing chances daily and will reschedule if they appear too low.

What happens if I did not see the lights?

We offer one free trial of the Northern Lights if you did not see them on your first try. You can send us an email at info@iceland-highlights.com to reschedule.

What’s your cancellation policy?

• We will charge a cancellation fee of 100% if the booking is canceled 24 hours or less before the event.
• A cancellation fee of 95% will be applied if the booking is canceled more than 24 hours before the event. The 5% Merchant Fee is included in this total.
• If we cancel the tour due to bad weather, you will receive an email and a rescheduling offer. If rescheduling does not work, we will refund 95%.
• The 5% is a non-refundable merchant’s fee.
