Embark on our Private Golden Circle tour and let us guide you through Iceland’s most iconic sights, where nature’s grandeur, geological wonders, and culinary delights await. Prepare for an extraordinary journey that will leave you with cherished memories and a deep appreciation for the remarkable beauty of Iceland’s Golden Circle
Our first stop of the day is Þingvellir National Park, where you’ll have the chance to see the stunning Thingvellir Lake, Iceland’s second-largest lake. You can also walk in the rift where the North American and Euro-Asian tectonic plates meet, a unique and awe-inspiring experience.
Moreover, Þingvellir is the historic site of Althing, the world’s first parliament founded in 930 AD, and from which the park derives its name, meaning “Fields of the Parliament.” If time permits, our guide will lead you to Öxarárfoss Waterfall, cascading into the rift and merging with Thingvellir Lake, an extraordinary sight that you don’t want to miss.
Within a 45-minute ride, we’ll arrive at the Haukdalur/ Geysir geothermal area, where we’ll explore some of Iceland’s most geothermally active regions. In the park, we’ll witness Iceland’s most active geyser, “Strokkur,” shooting hot water as high as 20-30 meters (65-98ft) every 5-10 minutes. Additionally, there’s Litli Geysir, which resembles a boiling pot, and around 20 other dormant geysers that could erupt at any moment. Be cautious not to approach too closely; the water temperature reaches around 100°C (212°F).
Next on our journey is a visit to Gullfoss waterfall, the second-largest waterfall in Iceland, which can be reached by a 5-minute walk from the parking lot to the viewpoint. In the summer months, for those who enjoy hiking, we can lead you to the side of the waterfall where you can feel the powerful vibrations and the refreshing mist from the cascading water.
We’ve now explored all three main attractions of the renowned Golden Circle route, but our adventure is far from over. We have two more exciting sights to share with you.
Now we will start driving south to visit Fridheimar tomato cultivation farm, where you get a chance to taste various meals and desserts made with tomato as the main ingredient. Some people say that this place offers the best Bloody Mary cocktail in the world. We will only make a short stop there to see the interior of the greenhouse (yes, you can see how things are grown there), and perhaps fancy yourself with a drink or soup from the bar. Please inform us if you’d like to have a proper lunch stop there, we might need to adjust the itinerary a bit to fit it into your schedule.
Last but not least, we’ll make a stop at Kerid to marvel at the stunning view of this ancient crater, which formed around 3000 years ago. The vivid colors of the red and green vegetation surrounding the crater’s azure blue waters create a breathtaking landscape that is sure to leave you in awe.
