The tour takes approximately 14 hours, ensuring that you have ample time to explore and experience the beauty of the South Coast and Glacier Lagoon.
The tour will start with Reykjavik pickup, Reykjavik harbor, or any other chosen location.
We stop along the way to visit Skogafoss, one of Iceland’s biggest waterfalls, Seljalandsfoss, Dyrholaey Bridge, and Reynisfjara Beach, which are the most popular South Coast attractions. We’ll continue on to Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach. As we get to the Glacial Lagoon, we will take a boat excursion to get even better views! When our cameras are full of shots and our trip has come to an end, we will return to Reykjavik, where you may have dinner in town or, if visiting in winter, do a late northern lights tour!
Seljalandsfoss waterfall is a stunning natural wonder located on the South Coast of Iceland. This breathtaking waterfall drops 60 meters (197 feet) into a serene pool below and can be viewed from a unique angle by taking a path that goes behind the waterfall. This experience is a must-see for anyone traveling to Iceland and looking to explore the country’s natural beauty.
Skógafoss is a magnificent waterfall located on the south coast of Iceland, just a short drive from the town of Skógar. With a drop of 60 meters and a width of 25 meters, it is one of the largest and most impressive waterfalls in Iceland. Visitors can walk right up to the waterfall and feel the mist from the water on their faces. For those who want a better view, there is a staircase that leads to the top of the waterfall where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
A little further around the other side of Eyjafjallajokull, we come to another set of “secret waterfalls”, where Irafoss and Arjanurfoss tumble their way down the rocky cliffs. If missed by most, we’ll make sure that you see them. Beyond lies Skogafoss, which rivals Gullfoss as the most famous waterfall in the country now. Probably one of the most recognized waterfalls in the world, Skogafoss is a sensational sight at any time of year.
Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach is one of the most stunning and unique natural wonders of Iceland. The black sand beach is famous for its dramatic basalt columns, towering cliffs, and powerful waves that crash onto the shore. It is located near the village of Vík í Mýrdal, and it’s a popular destination for visitors to Iceland. The basalt columns were formed by lava flows that cooled quickly and created hexagonal structures. The beach is also home to a beautiful cave, called Hálsanefshellir, which can be explored during low tide. Visitors can take a walk along the beach, marvel at the impressive cliffs, and enjoy the view of the nearby Dyrhólaey peninsula.
Our next stop takes us to Jökulsárlón, Iceland’s deepest lake and a massive glacial lagoon located at the foot of the Vatnajökull glacier. As the glacier slowly melts and flows towards the lowlands, it forms a picturesque lagoon filled with huge icebergs gently floating toward the ocean. The icebergs come in varying shapes and sizes, with some reaching 20 to 30 meters in length. The lagoon’s appearance is constantly changing as new icebergs enter it and the glacier “calves.”
Our tour also takes us to the famous Black Sand Beach, also known as Diamond Beach, where icebergs are swept ashore by the waves, creating a stunning contrast between the black sand and the crystal-clear ice. These two locations are among Iceland’s most photographed natural wonders and have become internationally famous after appearing in Hollywood films such as James Bond, Batman Begins, and Tomb Raider.
It’s no surprise that Jökulsarlon Glacier Lagoon has been nicknamed “Iceland’s Crown Jewel,” as its beauty is truly unmatched. This private South Coast and Glacier Lagoon day tour offer an unforgettable experience that captures the essence of Iceland’s natural wonder.
