Take a guided group tour out of Reykjavik to search for the Aurora Borealis. Watch a unique starry sky as a burst of light sweeps the Icelandic terrain.
We meet at specific hotels outside of central Reykjavik as well as the tour bus stops there. Depending on the season, our groups might range in size from 30 to 40 people.
Since it is more difficult to see the northern lights from Reykjavik, the tour will take place as far outside the city boundaries and away from light pollution as possible. The final destination is not known in advance because it will depend on the amount of cloud cover and nighttime activity. The drive will be as short as possible, and you may need to make multiple stops because the lights can be difficult to find. It is frequently a waiting game for this stunning phenomenon, but it is always worthwhile. If we have a site that the guide deems to be a decent location, we might stay in that spot.
Your guide will set up their camera to take pictures of your group as you look for the Aurora Borealis. Your tour guide will make sure that everyone has a chance to take a picture. As we wait for the aurora to appear, cuddle up under cozy blankets, indulge in a self-service selection of hot chocolate and nibbles, and enjoy some stargazing.
Within seven days of your tour, if our quest is successful, we email images to the email supplied when you made the reservation using a drop-box link.
September to April; 9:30 pm
5 Hours long.
We can pick you up at downtown Reykjavik. You will see the pickup list options on the booking process.
Prior to the tour, you should check your email since we will email tour confirmation at around 5 p.m. on the day of the tour. If you have any problems, please contact us. The number of people in the group will vary based on the season and be led by one of our guides. Starting at departure time, you will be picked up from your hotel, guesthouse, or bus stop (It may take up to 1 hour for everyone to be picked up).
We have a maximum group size of 35–40 people per vehicle, and on our larger vehicle trip, there is a private guide, photographer, and driver for the group to keep everyone warm and comfortable in the bus with ample room. Since it can become chilly outside, it’s excellent to have a warm, comfortable bus to warm up in between taking pictures or trying to see the Northern Lights.
