Join our thrilling two-day, one-night Þórsmörk Valley tour, a unique opportunity to experience the enchanting magic of this valley. Explore the realm of Thor, the Thunder God, amidst dramatic mountains, wild rivers, and glaciers. Þórsmörk, nestled among Eyjafjallajökull, Mýrdalsjökull, and Tindfjallajökull glaciers, is a cherished nature reserve in South Iceland.
This popular tour offers adventurous rides over unbridged glacial rivers and numerous hiking options. Day 1 involves a scenic journey from your accommodation to Þórsmörk, witnessing the aftermath of the 2010 Eyjafjallajökull eruption at Gígjökull glacier. A stop at Steinholt provides an opportunity for a short hike before reaching Húsadalur for a serene night with a BBQ dinner.
On Day 2, our super jeep ride takes you back from Þórsmörk to your accommodation, passing highlights like Eyjafjallajökull glacier and Seljalandsfoss waterfall.

It’s advisable to bring a large duffel bag (60/80 liters), sturdy, and water-resistant, not exceeding 15 kg. Additionally, consider including a daypack (30 to 50 liters) for your daily essentials. For added convenience, you can keep an extra bag clearly marked with your name at your Reykjavik accommodation.
For optimal comfort and protection, pack a variety of clothing items. Avoid cotton and focus on layering with wool, synthetics, or wool/synthetic blends. The innermost layer should consist of long underwear, followed by a middle layer of synthetic turtleneck or wool shirt and pants. The outermost layer should include a synthetic jacket, and/or a Gore-Tex wind/rain parka and over-pants. Ensure you have regular and thermal underwear, a medium-weight synthetic fleece sweater or jacket, and suitable waterproof hiking boots.
Accessories play a crucial role in ensuring your comfort and safety. Essential accessories include a sun & rain hat, woolen hat, gloves, waterproofed shell gloves, sunglasses, and gaiters. For river crossings, it’s recommended to have Teva-type sandals and/or neoprene socks/shoes. Don’t forget a headlamp or small flashlight, toiletry kit, sunscreen, and a personal first aid kit.
While optional, certain accessories can enhance your overall experience. Consider items such as hiking poles, binoculars, a repair kit with needle, thread, and safety pins, favorite snacks, protein supplements for vegetarians, and 1 or 2 good bottles of wine or a bottle of something stronger.
